Dear everybody, this morning i am compelled to write to you to help a couple of colleagues who urgently need help and save at least two lives.
Pius Engetu is a colleague of mine at FOWODE Young Leaders Alumni Association and with him, we have organised and carried out several school outreaches and charity outreaches to to providence homes of the disabled. Late last year, his dad was diagonised and recommended for a kidney transpalnt and he was confirmed the kidney donor. I promised to add my effort to his own when he approached me.
Here is an e-mail he sent to me following our discussion:

Hello friends,
Greetings

Please my dad, Mr. Okello-Odukul Felix, with a stage III kidney/Renal failure secondary to chronic Glomerulonephritis and Hypertension, needs a kidney transplant.
Please my dad, Mr. Okello-Odukul Felix, with a stage III kidney/Renal failure secondary to chronic Glomerulonephritis and Hypertension, needs a kidney transplant.
However,
my financial condition does not permit him to have a kidney transplantation
operation, which is the only option, his doctor/consultant/Renal physician at
Mulago Hospital Dr. Eyoku Simon Peter has recommended. He is currently
undergoing dialysis as we... try to raise money for the treatment abroad and
the dialysis is quite costly (Ush 750.000/- per week.
The
cost of the transplant is approximately 30,000 U.S.Dollars (approximately Ush.
75 Million). However I have been confirmed as a potential donor and hopping all
goes on well.
We
are in atrying moment as a family and we need friends to lean on. We are asking
for any help possible or if someone can come up with any suggestion, how to get
help? Any NGO or any other sort of organization may do something for him here.
We shall be grateful for your help. Please, every penny counts here;

" Mable Atemo a 2010 IT graduate of Makerere University lies in Mulago hospital on life support
as she undergoes dialysis, to rid her blood of impurities. Atemo was born with one kidney, which
stopped functioning last December. Since then, Atemo has had to visit Mulago hospital for
detoxification (dialysis) three (3) sessions a week at a cost of between shs. 400,000/= to
500,000/= per session. According to Atemo’s unemployed mother, Yayeri Adiko a single parent, this sum becomes
harder to meet as each day goes by. With help from friends and family, Atemo has been able to
go for dialysis only twice a week as opposed to the medically recommended thrice. Among the
key functions of the kidney is to remove toxic waste products from the blood, regulate blood
pressure and control the amount of fluid in the body. A human being has two kidneys but can
function with one. The long term solution for Atemo is to have a kidney transplant at a cost of
70m shillings in India. At the moment, she is only allowed to feed on apples, rice, cassava,
beans, peas and posho.
“I have two children. Atemo is the eldest. It is so painful for me to watch her like this. I pray for a
miracle to get Atemo a kidney transplant. I cry out to God everyday. People have been helping,
but the money has gone into dialysis so far. Atemo lives in pain, she needs help’’ explains
desperate Adiko.
