2009 marks the 60th anniversary of the Commonwealth and the focus is on young people around the
Commonwealth who are the driving force in the organizations future programmes and how the
Commonwealth can serve better humanity.
Today Commonwealth has membership of 54 nations the newest being
the Republic of Rwanda, admitted during CHOGM 2009 in Trinidad & Tobago.
The Commonwealth Association –Uganda in partnership with Friends of the Commonwealth-Uganda Chapter (FOCU), therefore would like to express its gratitude to all those who have supported the
association in the last twelve months both financial and material.
Two highlights of the year have been the launching of the Friends of the Commonwealth-Uganda Chapter (FOCU) now hosted by CPAUG and the Commonwealth Conversation conducted in more than
seven (7) districts in Uganda.
CPAUG & FOCU will continue to promote the values of the Commonwealth in Uganda in 2010 and
some of the projects proposed for 2010 are the 1st ever Uganda NGO Expo May 2010; the 2nd
Commonwealth Annual Lecture-March 2010 as part of the Commonwealth Day 2010 celebrations in
Uganda; the Commonwealth Dinner in June; 1st Commonwealth Carol Service and the Information
Society Day event in May 2010 among other activities.
CPAUG & FOCU membership wishes you all a Merry Xmas & prosperous New Year 2010.
